Simple Mother’s Day Card
This Mother’s Day card is super simple yet impressive. It’s only using one die, Hero Arts Mother’s Day Window Die. A lot of the shine comes from the holographic background inside the shaker window.
Wise Vintage Owl
To highlight the vintage floral pattern, I used my Tim Holtz Medium Brayer to add some Lost Shadow Distress Oxide on the raised areas.
Shaped Shaker Card
Today’s card is a shaped shaker card, so I’m starting with the card base.
Frosty florals
The main feature of this card is created with the Honey Bee Lovely Layers Amaryllis Die Set. It creates a lush amaryllis plant with a choice of two planters.
Foiling textured paper
The best cardstock for hot foiling is the smoothest. But you can make your own smooth cardstock in a few simple steps.

There are some great deals on Tim Holtz dies and embossing folders in the Sizzix Spring Sale. Here are some that stood out to me.

For this card I used the MFT Vanity License Plate Alphabet Stamp Set and MFT Vanity License Plate Die. I have so many ideas for how to use these! How about a 🍕PIZZA, 🎂 HBD, 🐻 BEAR, 🦌 DEER or 🐋 WHALE license plate?
Orchid Postage Collage
This card was inspired by the Waffle Flower December Sneak Peak Club that included the Mini Slimline Postage Collage dies and stencil.

Monochrome Stocking Full of Joy
This die set is great to use with scraps, because there are lots of small dies that combine to create characters and greenery.
Lovely Layers Deer
The main feature of these cards is the Lovely Layers Deer Die Set by Honey Bee Stamps. You can watch me make this card on YouTube. It’s a 13-minute video on the @ValleyOakPaper channel.
Birthday bears
The mama bear and her cub are from a Sizzix die set by Lisa Jones. It’s called Nature Friends and also includes a bunny, a hedgehog and a badger.
Oak wreath tutorial
The next day I created the texture with the Pinkfresh Studio’s Stitches Cover Plate. This had the added bonus of flattening the cardstock after its bath.
Whale thank-you cards
I cut out the parts of the whale from inexpensive watercolor paper and colored them with Distress Watercolor pencils following photos of humpback whales. The upper part and tail are colored with Black Soot. For the shadows under the whale I used Hickory Smoke.
Floral birthday card tutorial
Tips for coloring flowers: Look for commonalities in the images. If you paint what’s typical, people will recognize the flower and your coloring will seem realistic to them.
Diecut earrings
It’s almost embarrassing to write a tutorial for the red, blue and white earrings in my Etsy store. They’re so easy to make.
